  2. The Soul is a Particle or Wave of the Supreme Being

“The soul is a particle or wave (ansa) of the Supreme Being just as the ray (ansa) of the Sun is an emanation of the Sun.” (Huzur Maharaj, Prem Patra Radhasoami)

More On Ansas/Souls: Particles, Waves, Rays, Emanations of the One Supreme Being Radhaswami

The soul, which has come to this region as a ray on its own current from the Feet of the True Supreme Being, functions in every living thing. In reality, it alone is true and whatever other names and forms are seen here appear to be true only with its help but get destroyed when the soul or spirit leaves the body.

The spirit and the Supreme Being Radhasoami are All-blissful and All-knowing. In other words, the Supreme Being Radhasoami is Omnipotent,
All-blissful and All-knowing, and is present in every individual. The soul (jiva i.e. the spirit), is his particle or wave (ansa), for the powers that exist in the Supreme Being are present in the soul as well.

The entire creation came into being according to the mauj (will) of the Supreme Lord, and every spirit-entity creates a separate physical body and develops it on the same principle. The creation of Pind (i.e. physical body in the physical plane) and of Brahmanda (i.e. the macrocosm, cosmos, regions of universal mind and matter) is similar and takes place in the same manner and on the same principle. The only difference is that the creation in the human body is small and the creation in Brahmanda is large, but the grades and the functions of the creation outside are exactly similar to those of the human body.

[Note: “Mauj”: Any, even the least commotion on the spiritual plane, which results in activity on the spiritual plane or even on the mental and physical planes is called ‘mauj’. Literally, the word means ‘wave’ of the sea. As Saints also act from the spiritual plane, the term ‘mauj’ is also used when we speak about their will or pleasure.]

The entire creation consists of currents. All the bodies that exist consist of currents. Just as cloth is woven out of threads and the branches and twigs of a tree are collections of threads, similarly the human body is also made up of currents or threads. Each one of the threads or nerves is a tube through which the current of the spirit flows. This is the general principle underlying the structure of all the physical bodies in the creation. When anybody speaks, his voice is heard by means of the current of sound. In the same manner, it is through the current of the spirit that the world becomes visible.

When there was no creation, the first thing that happened was that a current issued forth from the Feet of the Supreme Being Merciful Radhasoami. This current is the current of Shabd and of Life and Light. The entire creation of all the regions, higher or lower, has been brought into existence by this current.

The Supreme Being Merciful Radhasoami is enthroned within every one, and from there the current of the spirit, i.e. Life came down creating the Dayal Desh [Region of the Merciful], Brahmanda [regions of universal mind and matter] and Pind [physical plane, physical body], forming its centre [Seat of the Soul, Tishra til, Third Eye Center] between the two eyes within the human body, gives energy and life to the mind and senses and to every part of the body. As the current of the Spirit is itself the current of joy, pleasure, knowledge etc…, it is by means of this current that joy and pleasure is experienced by individuals through their sense-organs.

Now if any person wishes that they should attain the highest bliss and eternal happiness after reaching the Fountainhead of this current which is the Reservoir of perfect bliss, perfect joy, perfect knowledge, they should contact this current of the spirit and with its help return to its Reservoir i.e. the Supreme Being Radhasoami.

Remember Who You Are — A Mystical Poem About You — All Souls — The Gnostic Hymn of the Pearl

“The Hymn of the Pearl (also Hymn of the Soul, Hymn of the Robe of Glory or Hymn of Judas Thomas the Apostle) is a passage of the apocryphal Acts of Thomas. In that work, originally written in Syriac, the Apostle Thomas sings the hymn while praying for himself and fellow prisoners. Some scholars believe the hymn antedates the Acts, as it only appears in one Syriac manuscript and one Greek manuscript of the Acts of Thomas. The author of the Hymn is unknown, though there is a belief that it was composed by the Syriac gnostic Bardaisan due to some parallels between his life and that of the hymn…

“The hymn is commonly interpreted as a Gnostic view of the human condition, that we are spirits lost in a world of matter and forgetful of our true origin. This state of affairs may be ameliorated by a revelatory message delivered by a messenger, a role is generally ascribed to Jesus. The letter this takes on a symbolic representation of gnosis.

“The hymn has been preserved and especially treasured in Manichaeism - a version of it appears as part of a north-African Manichaean Psalm book is written in Coptic, called the Psalms of Thomas. The Hymn of the Pearl has also been admired by Orthodox Christian thinkers.” (Wikipedia)

The Song of the Pearl is a narrative poem about a prince’s quest for a pearl. Presented in the Acts of Thomas as a hymn uttered by Thomas, The Song of the Pearl is also a gnostic tale of salvation, of sleeping in error and awakening to light, of quest not only for the pearl but for the benefit of possessing the pearl: a return to the light.

What is the pearl? As one of the alternative titles of the poem, “The Hymn of the Soul,” suggests, the pearl may esoterically be the soul. Or the pearl may be gnosis, the awakening, and the knowledge that the soul must have to move to the next level of being. Bentley Layton suggests that the prince and his quest may be the soul and its journey, the poem a tale of “the soul’s entry into bodily incarnation and its eventual disengagement from the body.” The soul on entering matter becomes inert, but once in possession of its pearl of knowledge it will waken into wisdom and reunion with “the first principle.”

DRESSING FOR THE JOURNEY

When I was a little child living
in my father’s palace in his kingdom,
happy in the glories and riches
of my family that nurtured me,
my parents gave me supplies
and sent me out on a mission
from our home in the east.
From their treasure house
they made up a cargo for me.
It was big though light enough
so I could carry it myself,
holding gold from the highest houses
and silver of Gazzak the Great
and rubies of India
and opals from the land of Kushan,
and they girded me with adamant
that can crush iron.
They took off my bright robe of glory,
which they had made for me out of love,
and took away my purple toga,
which was woven to fit my stature.
They made a covenant with me
and wrote it in my heart so I would not forget:
“When you go down into Egypt
and bring back the one pearl
that lies in the middle of the sea
and is guarded by the snorting serpent,
you will again put on your robe of glory
and your toga over it,
and with your brother, our next in rank,
you will be heir in our kingdom.”

THE DRAGON AND THE DEEP SLEEP

I left the east and traveled down
to Egypt with my two royal guides,
since the way was dangerous and harsh
and I was very young to walk alone.
I crossed the borders of Maishan,
the gathering place of merchants of the east,
came into the land of the Babylonians,
and entered the walls of Sarbug.
When I went down into Egypt
my companions left me.
I went straight to the serpent
and settled close by him in an inn,
waiting for him to sleep
so I could take my pearl from him.
Since I was alone
I was a stranger to others in the inn,
yet I saw one of my own people there,
a nobleman from the east,
young, handsome, lovable,
a son of kings—an anointed one,
and he came and was close to me.
And I made him my confidante
with whom I shared my mission.
I warned him against the Egyptians
and of contact with the unclean ones.
Then I put on a robe like theirs,
lest they suspect me as an outsider
who had come to steal the pearl,
lest they arouse the serpent against me.
Somehow they learned I was not
their countryman, dealt with me cunningly,
and gave me their food to eat.
I fell into a deep sleep.
I forgot that I was a son of kings
and served their king.
I forgot the pearl
for which my parents had sent me.
Through the heaviness of their food
I fell into a deep sleep.

“REMEMBER THE PEARL”

When all these things happened
my parents knew and grieved for me.
It was proclaimed in our kingdom
that all should come to our gate.
And the kings and princes of Parthia
and all the nobles of the east
wove a plan on my behalf
so I would not be left in Egypt.
And they wrote me a letter
and every noble signed it with his name:
“From your father, the king of kings,
and your mother, the mistress of the east,
and from your brother, our next in rank,
and to you, our son in Egypt, peace!
Awake and rise from your sleep
and hear the words of our letter!
Remember that you are a son of kings
and see the slavery of your life.
Remember the pearl
for which you were sent into Egypt!
Remember your robe of glory
and your splendid mantle, which you may wear
when your name is called in the book of life,
when it is read in the book of heroes,
when you and your brother inherit our kingdom.”

THE BIRD OF SPEECH [SOUND]

And serving as messenger,
the letter was a letter sealed by the king
with his right hand
against the evil children of Babylon
and the savage demons of the Sarbug labyrinth.
It rose up in the form of an eagle,
the king of all winged fowl;
it flew and alighted beside me
and became Speech.
At its Voice and the Sound of its rustling
I awoke and rose from my sleep.
I took it, kissed it, broke its seal, and read.
And the words written on my heart
were in the letter for me to read.
I remembered that I was the son of kings
and my free soul longed for its own kind.
I remembered the pearl
for which I was send down into Egypt,
and I began to enchant
the terrible and snorting serpent.
I charmed him into sleep
by calling the Name of my Father over him
and of my mother, the queen of the east.
I seized the pearl
and turned to carry it to my father.
Those filthy and impure garments
I stripped off, leaving them in the fields,
and went straight on my way
into the light of our homeland in the east.

THE LETTER’S VOICE

On my way the letter that awakened me
was lying like a woman on the road.
And as she had awakened me with her voice
so she guided me with her light
as if she were an oracle.
She was written on Chinese silk
and shone before me in her own form.
Her voice soothed my fear
and its love urged me on.
I hurried past the labyrinth walls of Sarbug
and Babylon on the left
and came to Maishan, the haven of merchants,
perched over the coast of the sea.
My robe of glory that I had taken off
and the toga over it were sent by my parents
from the heights of Hyrcania.
They were in the hands of treasurers
to whom they were committed
because of their faith,
and I had forgotten the robe’s splendor,
for as a child I had left it
in my father’s house.

THE GARMENT OF GNOSIS

As I gazed on it, suddenly the garment
like a mirror reflected me,
and I saw myself apart
as two entities in one form.
The treasurers had brought me one robe,
yet in two halves I saw one shape
with one kingly seal.
They gave me wealth,
and the bright embroidered robe
was colored with gold and beryls,
with rubies and opals,
and sardonyxes of many colors
were fastened to it in its high home.
All its seams were fastened
with stones of adamant,
and the image of the king of kings
was embroidered on it
as it rippled with sapphires
of many colors.
I saw it quiver all over,
moving with gnosis, in a pulsing knowledge,
and as it prepared to speak
it moved toward me,
murmuring the sound of its songs.
It descended and said,
“I am the one who acted for him.
For him I was brought up in my father’s house.
I saw myself growing in stature
in harmony with his labors.”

THE TOGA AND THE PEARL

With regal movements
the robe was spreading toward me,
urging me to take it,
and love urged me to receive it,
and I stretched forth and received it
and put on the beauty of its hues.
I cast my toga of brilliant colors
all around me.
Therein I clothed myself and ascended
to the gate of salutation and adoration.
I bowed my head and adored
the majesty of my father, who sent it to me.
I had fulfilled his commands
and he fulfilled what he had promised.
At the gate of his princes
I mingled with his nobles.
He was happy through me and received me,
and I was with him in his kingdom,
and his slaves praised him resoundingly.
He promised me that I would journey soon
with him to the gate of the king of kings,
and with my gifts and my pearl
I would appear with him before our king.

About the Soul (Jiva, Surat, the Attention-Faculty of the Soul) and Surat Shabd Yoga, the Union of the Soul With the Sound Current via Meditation Practice, and the Ascension of the Soul Back to It’s True Abode

Below is from the Notes and Commentary of M.G. Gupta, M.A., D.Litt. Former Member of the Faculty of Political Science, Allahabad University, in his Volumes of Sar Bachan Radhasoami Poetry — The Quintessential Discourse Radhasoami.

Sleeping Destiny: At various stages in its descent, the jiva-surat left some of its essence at all intervening regions. This is called as its “sleeping potential destiny” (soya bhaag or naseeb-i-khufta) which can and will be roused when it travels back through these regions. At these stations, in its descent, the jiva-surat adopted the form and the colour of the centre through which it passed. In this samsara, it assumed the form of manas and Maya. If now it wants to return home, it must retrace its path. It must draw back all the energy it had diffused (sametna and ulatna) and then proceed ahead. This will be possible only with the help and grace of the guru.

Sleeping destiny: In Sant Mat mysticism, the phrase “sleeping destiny” (soya bhaag or bakht-i-khufta) implies a concept of seminal importance. The spirit has descended from the realm of Haq (Hoot) [Eternal Truth, Sat] to the fleshly realm of Nasoot through several intermediate levels of consciousness — from Hoot to Hootal Hoot, the region of Great Darkness or Imperishable Deity (Akshar Purush) to Hahoot, to Lahoot, to Jabroot, to Malkoot, to Shahood and on to Nasoot.

At all these levels, man’s spirit has left, as if in a safe deposit, a part of its energy, of which it went on becoming oblivious. That part or portion of the spirit is inoperative and is, as it were, dormant and sleeping. It is only when the perfect living master appears in a manifest form, that makes the spirit-entity conscious of its sleeping fortune which it would now aspire to reclaim. Gradually, under the living master’s close guidance and supervision, the jiva ascends to the higher level and recovers the sleeping portion it had left in the safe deposit of that level. Thus reinforced, it goes higher up and up, until it reaches its abode in Hoot — the region of Haq [Eternal Truth, Sat].

Sleeping destiny or soya bhaag: As the surat had descended from Satt Desh [True, Eternal Spiritual Realm or Heaven] to the regions of mind and body, on the way she left portions of its energy at the intervening spiritual stations which are all still there, awaiting its return. Of these portions, the surat has become oblivious but when it ascends to those stations, these dormant portions come alive and the surat meeting them becomes reinforced. This is made possible by the Satguru who is said to rouse the “sleeping destiny” of the jivas.

Yoga: It connotes the system of reverting the current of surat present in the eyes inward and upward and join or unite it with the current of primordial energy (chaitanya) that comes from the top of Dayal Desh.

Surat and nirat: Surat is the spirit that ascends and gets fascinated at any spiritual region; nirat is the force which goads it forward.

Surat which is swallowed up by mind and Maya must wriggle out of their jaws, if not wholly, then at least partially, to begin with, so that it may begin to be engaged in the practice of listening to Word. It is only the surat which is of a piece with the Word and it alone can be absorbed in the Word. And the surat tends to cling to the delight it gets by hearing the Word of the lower spheres and does not move up unless goaded by a force called as nirat (that which disengages).

Surat, Birat and Nirat: Surat means that which is absorbed in itself; birat is that which separates the surat from a particular spiritual region; and nirat is that force which pushes the surat onward in its march to the Eternal Abode.

Surat, Birat and Nirat: Surat is that which tends to become absorbed into the Sound of a particular sphere and does not proceed higher up; birat is that which detaches the surat from that pleasure or bliss; nirat is that force which urges the surat to proceed to higher regions.

On the Love of the Soul — Brihad-Aranyaka Upanishad

Maitreyi said: “What should I then do with
possessions that cannot give me life eternal?
Give me instead your knowledge, O my Lord.”

On hearing this Yajnavalkya exclaimed:

“Dear you are to me, beloved, and dear are the words you say.
Come, sit down and I will teach; but hear my words with deep attention.”

Then spoke Yajnavalkya:

In truth, it is not for the love of a husband that a husband is dear;
but for the love of the Soul in the husband that a husband is dear.

In truth, it is not for the love of a wife that a wife is dear;
but for the love of the Soul in the wife that a wife is dear.

In truth, it is not for the love of children that children are dear;
but for the love of the Soul in children that children are dear.

In truth, it is not for the love of riches that riches are dear;
but for the love of the Soul in riches that riches are dear.

In truth, it is not for the love of religion that religion is dear;
but for the love of the Soul in religion that religion is dear.

In truth, it is not for the love of power that power is dear;
but for the love of the Soul in power that power is dear.

In truth, it is not for the love of the heavens that the heavens are dear;
but for the love of the Soul in the heavens that the heavens are dear.

In truth, it is not for the love of the gods that the gods are dear;
but for the love of the Soul in the gods that the gods are dear.

In truth, it is not for the love of creatures that creatures are dear;
but for the love of the Soul in creatures that creatures are dear.

In truth, it is not for the love of the all that the all is dear;
but for the love of the Soul in the all that the all is dear.

It is the Soul, the Spirit, the Self, that must be seen and be heard
and have our thoughts and meditation, O Maitreyi.
When the Soul is seen and heard, is though upon and is known,
then all that is becomes known… [all this is understood].

Religion, power, heavens, beings, gods, and all will abandon us
if we think that they are apart from the Soul.
Because religion, power, heavens, beings, gods, and all rest on the Soul.

  8. The Supreme Being is an Ocean of Love and the Soul is a Drop from this Divine Ocean

    108. This practice can be conducted easily and comfortably if the devotee has a little love for the Supreme Being. Without love it will be too hard and difficult to practice Surat Shabd Yoga [inner Light and Sound Meditation] with any good result to be obtained within a short time.

    1. The Supreme Being, being a boundless Ocean of Spirit or Love and human being, being a drop or current of spirit or love from this Ocean, and love being the very essence and means of existence of the whole creation, it follows that no effort in any direction, temporal or spiritual, unless actuated by love or affectionate regard, can be crowned with success, and the work or labor rendered easy, sweet and harmonious.

    2. Love is most sublime, having its origin in the highest region, the abode of the Supreme Being. In whatever heart it springs up, it will gradually raise and carry the fortunate possessor of this lofty and noble passion to the highest region.

    3. All good qualities and goodness itself will gradually find their home in the heart in which love dwells, and all bad qualities will be rooted out by and by.

    4. Whatever a man fully of pure love thinks or does is all wisdom, while the thoughts and works of worldly wise men are full of selfishness and folly.

    5. Knowledge without love for the Supreme Being is futile and tends towards untruth or darkness or materialism, while love turns everything to good use and lead to enlightenment and truth. Even worldly love, such as filial and conjugal, is attended with goodness, happiness and comfort to all concerned. How much more good would then result to mankind in general if the same love become spiritual, and be directed towards the Supreme Being, the Merciful and Kind Parent of the whole creation.

    6. Self-love brings on egotism or pride, and sows the seed of hatred, jealousy and disregard in the minds of kindred souls, associates and neighbors; while pure and sacred love for the Supreme Being creates in the heart humility, meekness and an affectionate regard for kindred spirits, neighbors and humanity in general.

    7. Pure and holy love is always ready to spend (regardless) whatever it has for the sake of its beloved, the Supreme Father, and the benefit of mankind without any distinction; whereas self-love or love of world always tries to appropriate everything to itself, even at the risk and loss of others.

    8. Pure and holy love is always ready to sacrifice anything whatever to gain admission into the presence of the Beloved, the Supreme Being; whereas self-love will never part with anything except for the sake of its own aggrandizement and indulgence in sensual pleasures.

    9. The noble passion of love is most powerful and strong. It removes all obstacles and thorns in its way and discards all superstitions, doubts and skepticism.

    10. Where pure love dwells there sheds the light of Grace, as it forms a link with the spirit or love current from its source, the Supreme Being.

    11. Such is the strength and effect of affection and kind treatment that it subdues ferocity and other injurious and dangerous characteristics in beasts and other animals, that is to say, they begin to love and have an affectionate regard for their keepers and trainers.

    12. A heart devoid of love or affection is as hard as stone, and does not form a suitable receptacle for the light of Heavenly Grace and Mercy.

    13. Sincere love is reciprocal, so if one has a heart full of love for the Supreme Being, he is sure to be attracted towards Him by Grace, Mercy and Holy Light which will gradually illumine his inner self, and then all menial or worldly affections and desires will gradually disappear.

    14. Love or the power of attraction is the basis of the whole creation and the cause of its sustenance and preservation.

    15. The Supreme Being loves and takes special care of those who love Him with all their heart and soul, and gradually draws them towards Himself, the Grand Center of Pure Light and Attraction; while those whose hearts are imbued with worldly love and passions recede from this center, or in other words, they of themselves fly away towards the circumference or darkness and untruth.

    16. Every wave of love rising in a lover’s heart brings tidings of goodness and joy from the Beloved, and every thought springing up in such a heart is a harbinger of good works and good services for the sake of the Beloved.

    17. Love has no bounds, knows no restrictions, and is not limited by conditions, and like its source is extensive and far reaching in its beneficial results.

Astronomers Find Our Sun’s Long Lost Sibling

In a discovery which could shed new light on our Sun’s formation, astronomers at the University of Texas in Austin have identified its first solar sibling – a star almost certainly born from the same cloud of gas and dust as our star.

‘We want to know where we were born,’ said lead astronomer Ivan Ramirez in a recent statement from the University. ‘If we can figure out in what part of the galaxy the sun formed, we can constrain conditions on the early solar system. That could help us understand why we are here.’

While it’s been known that the Sun was born from a large cloud of gas and dust from which other stars doubtless emerged as well, this is the first brother star to the Sun astronomers have pinpointed so far…

    Freedom of Soul and Religions

Most people in this world belong to some religion or other. This depends upon their birth, company or outward education. But my dear Souls, God is not bound to any one particular religion, sect or creed. All religions give you some information about God, Soul, good and bad actions, the NAME of God and the Kingdom of God. Otherwise one has no knowledge. There is the Hidden Treasure in all religions. In them are pearls but few can dive to the bottom to obtain them. The body deteriorates but the Soul is imperishable. Our advice is to your Soul, which is free from religions. Nature treats all religions alike. The method of a Soul entering a Christian body is the same as in the case of a Mohammedan, Hindu, Parsi or Jew. In the same way, at the time of death the Soul of a Hindu leaves the body just as it leaves a Mohammedan body. The pain of teething and other ailments are suffered alike by people of all races.

In short, whatever your religion, race or sex, if you lift your Soul from her present seat in the body and spiritually cross the intervening Heavens as directed by Saints, you will surely reach Him. So let no religion hinder the progress of your Soul. You may take any help from your religion if it can help to open the Hidden Door through which you can pass into the Heavens. Otherwise, leave it respectfully alone. When you are unfettered, you will rise up easily. Religion gives you the hint and a Saint or Spiritual Master will help you to obtain it.

Scientists Offer Quantum Theory of Soul’s Existence

World-renowned quantum scientists say they can prove the existence of the soul.

American Dr. Stuart Hameroff and British physicist Sir Roger Penrose developed a quantum theory of consciousness asserting that our souls are contained inside structures called microtubules which live within our brain cells.

Their idea stems from the notion of the brain as a biological computer, “with 100 billion neurons and their axonal firings and synaptic connections acting as information networks”.

Dr. Hameroff, Professor Emeritus at the Departments of Anesthesiology and Psychology and Director of the Centre of Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona, and Sir Roger have been working on the theory since 1996.

They argue that our experience of consciousness is the result of quantum gravity effects inside these microtubules — a process they call orchestrated objective reduction (Orch-OR).

In a near-death experience the microtubules lose their quantum state, but the information within them is not destroyed. Or in layman’s terms, the soul does not die but returns to the universe.

Dr. Hameroff explained the theory at length in the Morgan Freeman-narrated documentary Through the Wormhole, which aired in the US by the Science Channel.

“‘Let’s say the heart stops beating, the blood stops flowing, the microtubules lose their quantum state,” Dr. Hameroff said.

“The quantum information within the microtubules is not destroyed, it can’t be destroyed, it just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large.

‘If the patient is resuscitated, revived, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and the patient says, “I had a near death experience”.’

In the event of the patient’s death, it was “possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body indefinitely — as a soul”.

Dr. Hameroff believes new findings about the role quantum physics plays in biological processes, such as the navigation of birds, adds weight to the theory.

Scientists Unveil Quantum Theory of Soul’s Existence (More)

A near-death experience occurs when quantum substances which form the soul leave the nervous system and enter the universe at large, according to a ground-breaking theory proposed by two eminent scientists.

According to this idea, consciousness is a programme for a quantum computer in the brain which can persist in the universe even after death, explaining the perceptions of those who have near-death experiences.

Dr. Stuart Hameroff, Professor Emeritus at the Departments of Anesthesiology and Psychology and the Director of the Centre of Consciousness Studies at the University of Arizona, has advanced the quasi-religious theory, the Daily Mail reported.

It is based on a quantum theory of consciousness he and British physicist Sir Roger Penrose have developed which holds that the essence of our soul is contained inside structures called microtubules within brain cells.

They have argued that our experience of consciousness is the result of quantum gravity effects in these microtubules, a theory which they dubbed orchestrated objective reduction (Orch-OR).

Thus it is held that our souls are more than the interaction of neurons in the brain. They are in fact constructed from the very fabric of the universe and may have existed since the beginning of time.

The concept is similar to the Buddhist and Hindu belief that consciousness is an integral part of the universe — and indeed that it is really all there may be, a position similar to Western philosophical idealism, the paper said.

With these beliefs, Hameroff holds that in a near-death experience the microtubules lose their quantum state, but the information within them is not destroyed. Instead it merely leaves the body and returns to the cosmos.

“Let’s say the heart stops beating, the blood stops flowing, the microtubules lose their quantum state. The quantum information within the microtubules is not destroyed, it can’t be destroyed, it just distributes and dissipates to the universe at large,” Hameroff told the Science Channel’s Through the Wormhole documentary.

“If the patient is resuscitated, revived, this quantum information can go back into the microtubules and the patient says ‘I had a near death experience’,” Hameroff said.

“If they’re not revived, and the patient dies, it’s possible that this quantum information can exist outside the body, perhaps indefinitely, as a soul,” Hameroff added.

Sant Mat: The Path to Spiritual Consciousness, By Anand Rao

“Consciousness is the quality or state of being aware of an external object or something within one’s self. It is a person’s subjective experience of the world and the mind. Earlier scientists worked with external experience in physical space and this consciousness developed concepts of external objects and processes. Mind is a parameter of the inner worlds and Consciousness of inner worlds leads to Eternal Happiness. This paper, starting with simple explanations of Religion and Sant Mat, attempts to show that the consciousness of the matters of the inner world/worlds depend upon the spiritual advancement and with proper meditational practices one may achieve Ultimate Spiritual Consciousness and enjoy everlasting Supreme Bliss, Supreme Energy, Supreme Intelligence, and Supreme Refulgence of the Supreme Being. Sant Mat teaches simple and easy Meditational Practices within the easy reach of all human beings, to achieve Ultimate Spiritual Consciousness.” — Spircon 2013 Book of Abstracts:

Hymn to the Soul (A Manichaean Gnostic Liturgical Hymn in Parthian.)

… Worthy are you of salvation.
To you, oh Soul of Light, will I give much counsel,
so that you may attain redemption.

Come, oh souls, to this ship of Light!

My most beloved soul, who is happy and noble,
where have you gone? Return!
Awake, dear soul, from the sleep of drunkenness
into which you have fallen!
Look upon the foes, see how they prepare death all around you!
Reach your home, the heavenly realm created by the Word,
Where you were in the beginning.

The Traveler of the Subtle Inner Path

Many Sants like Sant Tulsi Das, Goswami Lakshminath Paramhans, Sant Kabir, Sahib Surdas Ji, Sant Tukaram Ji, and Shri Maharshi Mehi unanimously pronounce that all human beings — irrespective of gender, age, occupation, and race — have an equal right to follow the inner path to the Divine. This view is verifiable by the fact that many Sants and sages, including Sant Kabir, Sant Ravidas, Sant Garibdas were born in ‘lower castes’ and in the lower strata of their society. Many ancient sages like Vyasa and Narada also have unusual births. Sant Tulsidas emphasizes that physical conditions, including birth in lower caste, poverty, and a lack of bodily beauty do not inhibit the progress of the soul. Sants declare that we are all children of one Supreme Being, God. This Divine Being is all compassionate and generous and does not have preference for any persons on the basis of their birth, class, or gender. However, there are certain disciplines all seekers must follow in order to tread this inner path to realize the Divine. According to Maharshi Mehi, “There are a number of necessary observances required to tread the spiritual path.”

Observances: Complete faith in one Divine Being, determination to realize the Divine within, service to the guru, satsang (association of the Sants and the study of scriptures), and steadfast meditation. Prohibitions: Use of intoxicants, practice of adultery, lying, violence (causing suffering to other beings, eating the flesh of animals), and stealing…

Thus, scriptures and Sant literature offer guidelines with regard to disciplines and prohibitions. According to these writings, an untouchable (chandala) who is devoted to the service of the Supreme Being is superior to a Brahmin (a person from the priestly class). Such a chandala with his/her devotion and dedication to the Supreme Being purifies the entire clan.

According to the Dharmashastras (Law Books), “all are born shudras (the lowest caste).” (One rises upward through the inward spiritual journey.) The caste system is based according to one’s qualities, actions, and samskaras (imprints left on the soul due to previous or past life experiences). The reality is, social status, birth, or social class (caste) does not determine the quality of a person; but, rather, one’s comportment determines one’s true status (i.e. caste). Death is a great equalizer. At the time of death, when the soul leaves the body it becomes isolated from all that was connected to the body, including relatives, sons and daughters, caste and status, wealth and wisdom, honor and power. Then, why discriminate against other human beings on the basis of these transitory, material things?

The inner path is accessible to all human beings, but certain disciplines, as cataloged above, are to be followed as also prescribed by the Sants for entering this path. An observance of these disciplines is absolutely essential for the seekers of Divine Reality.

O seeker, if you want to become a pilgrim on the spiritual path then do not transgress the disciplines and rules prescribed by the Sants and scriptures! Without following these necessary provisions and disciplines you will not be able to travel upon this inward journey, and will not attain success in achieving the highest goal.

— Swami Vyasanand Ji Maharaj, from the chapter titled, The Traveler of the Subtle Inner Path, in the new book, The Inward Journey of the Soul (Chal Hansa Nij Desh)

Krishna — Gita: The Power Between the Eye-brows — Third Eye — The Seat of the Soul:

9 He who remembers the Poet, the Creator, who rules all

10 things from all time, smaller than the smallest atom, but upholding this vast universe, who shines like the sun beyond darkness, far far beyond human thought; and at the time of his departure is in union of love and the power of Yoga and, with a mind that wanders not, keeps the power of his life between his eye-brows, he goes to that Spirit Supreme, the Supreme Spirit of light.

11 Hear now of that Path which the seers of the Veda call the Eternal, and which is reached by those who, in peace from earthly passions, live a life of holiness and strive for perfection.

12 If when a man leaves his earthly body he is in the silence of Yoga and, closing the doors of the soul, he keeps the mind in his heart, and places in the head the breath of life,

    Sound — The Word

13 And remembering me he utters OM, the eternal WORD of Brahman, he goes to the Path Supreme.

Seven Things I Believe (and Experience)

*1) God is Real.

*2) God is Love, the Ocean of Love and Compassion.

*3) All of the world scriptures teach about the same manifestation of God as inner mystical Light and Sound.

*4) Our true identity is soul, the Self. Soul is part of God and therefore is, like God, pure love.

*5) During this human existence we have an opportunity to experience God.

*6) As we experience communing with God’s love during meditation – Surat Shabd Yoga, we can rise above body-consciousness and explore Inner Space, the “Kingdom of the Heavens” that are within us. “We travel back from the realm of Darkness to the realm of Light, from the Light to divine Sound, and from the realm of Sound to the Soundless State.” (Swami Sant Sevi Ji Maharaj) The drop merges back into the Ocean of Love.

*7) As we get initiated into the Mysteries of the Spirit by a Living Teacher (Sant Satguru), the purpose of our life is fulfilled. Reuniting with God is our reason to be here: “It was for the sake of the God-conscious beings that our True Lord created this earth, and began this play of death and birth.” (Adi Granth) Kabir said, “For millions of years you have slept. This morning, will you not wake?”

"All beautiful forms and tones of this world are mere reflections of some aspect of that ultimate Love-Music of the Great Creative Word. Within the vast complex of creation, each individual spirit is himself/herself a spark of that Eternal Song of Love."

"There are those who have wandered among the darting comets and the shimmering orbs of sounding fire. The soul-explorer is not alone, for there are those who have traveled the highways of the inner cosmos; far more than one may at first realize."

"...The planes of heaven are about us everywhere. One has only to know this simple truth consciously, and then we will be free." (George Arnsby Jones)
